From surviving to thriving. It's funny cause I decided to do this photoshoot cause I wanted to be a model . I wanted to feel fierce, bold and empowered. I wanted to be what i didn't see. Just needed to have a reminder of the things that were possible. This happened to be right after I had my right hip replaced and was just looking for a little boost before heading back into surgery to get my left hip replaced. And I decided Lupus wasn't allowed to take my spirit. The surgery was because of a lupus complication. I was taking prednisone for about 5 years to maintain my inflammation and while taking this medication it started to deteriorate my hip bone and caused an avascular necrosis. My femoral bone had deteriorated and needed to be replaced . It took a while to get an approval for my right hip and because the pain of the right hip was greater we did not realize the left needed surgery until recovery. I was devastated. And all I wanted to do is embrace my future no matter how hard it seemed to be.
